I got here by accident. The "big breaks" of the early days all sprung from the unlikeliest of sources. Rejection at a bakery I idolised; a dinner party with a primary-school friend I'd barely spoken to in years; last-minute arrangements for an interview where the recorder's hard-disk space (but, thankfully, not my patience) ran out halfway. As each opportunity reached out and grabbed me, I tried to simply do my best, and found myself growing beyond what I'd expected.I returned to my birthplace of Singapore off the back of a 10-minute conversation and a barely-understood conviction. Five years on and I'm still here, running a business I never even imagined, telling stories in ways that I wouldn't have thought possible. The best thing about what I do is the chance to invest emotionally, spiritually, and financially into helping others grow. The worst thing - trying to explain to others what I do. One of the more accurate descriptions came from my incredulous 8-year-old niece: "you type words in a computer, and people pay you for it?!"Running a business can often be a full-life vocation, but I endeavour to make time for the things that matter: non-profit work around the region, books I can dive deep into, and visits to Australia (which I do, as the song goes, still call home). Through it all, I've seen time and again that despite my lack of planning, my God has indeed "made my paths straight" with grace, favour, and love that I could never have garnered on my own. There are no accidents.
