About Mark A. Friedl

I'm an environmental scientist specializing in biophysical remote sensing of the Earth's land areas. I am the Director of the Center for Remote Sensing and I lead the Land Cover and Surface Climate group at Boston University (www.bu.edu/lcsc), and I'm a co-founder and scientific advisor at Chloris Geospatial (https://chloris.earth). At BU I teach graduate courses in multivariate analysis, land surface climatology and remote sensing. More broadly, I've served as an associate editor for the Journal of Geophysical Research (published by the American Geophysical Union), Ecological Applications (published by the Ecological Society of America), and Remote Sensing of Environment. I am a current or former member of NASA's MODIS, Suomi VIIRS, and Multi-Source Land Imaging science teams, and an associate member of the USGS's Landsat 8 Science team.
