Being the secretary of the Phi Sigma Kappa chapter at Auburn University has given me both management and technical experience that I can bring with me into the work force. I have different duties in my role: I inform the members of the chapter of important upcoming dates, activities, and meals, as well as take notes from the members about improvements, ideas or comments. Most of this happens during our weekly chapter meetings, where I help conduct a meeting in front of the chapter. These meetings teach me to be on-time and plan ahead of time for topics and dates, and also reinforces my confidence to speak in front of a mass of people and how to keep their attention.As secretary, I am part of an ongoing team, our executive board. There are five other members and myself that make up this team. Our job is to work together and to keep the fraternity running, while also implementing new ideas and events to help us grow. Some ideas that we brought to life were a yearly calendar of all our events, as well as a cleaning list game that runs all year to keep brothers entertained and our house clean. Executive board's weekly meetings are more personal, therefore I was able to collaborate and create with other members and can provide assistance if I need to.One of the integral parts of my role involves the technical aspects of the fraternity. I run the monthly newsletter, which goes out to alumni and parents, and highlights ongoing events, projects and the state of the fraternity. I design a digital menu each week thru a portal on our website, which I make accessible online for box requests and viewing. I am the de-facto IT specialist for the fraternity, and work on projects such as a security system for the house, digital rush lists for recruitment, and Internet and printer issues.
