I am the ex-CEO of an industry-acclaimed specialist currency asset management firm, with a history of excellence in global macro strategy and multi-asset fund management. While CEO of Millennium Global, our Assets Under Management grew by over 300% and I led the firm to becoming “Currency Manager of the Year” in three successive years, 2019, 2020, 2021, by the Financial Times’s Pensions Expert PIPA Awards for performance, innovation and client service. I also wrote and published A Comprehensive Guide to Currency Issues for Institutional Investors, a professional handbook which has six editions for USD, GBP, JPY, AUD, CHF and EUR based investors, the last two of which have also been published in German and French. My global macro and geo-strategic perspective is underpinned by my professional experience spanning London, New York, and Hong Kong. My early career at Schroders began in London, before moving to Hong Kong and then New York. By the time I got New York, I had moved fully Into macro investing under the guise of managing Multi-Currency Global Sovereign Fixed Income portfolios. Upon returning to London with Schroders, the expertise I gained from living and working in these three pre-eminent global financial centres enabled me to excel as a leading portfolio manager of multi-currency fixed income portfolios. During the financial crisis of October 1998, I ran the 13th best performing US mutual fund out of 5,000, as ranked by The Wall Street Journal. During this period, I was awarded numerous awards for excellence, including “Global Fixed Income Fund Manager of the Year” in 2001 by International Money Marketing Magazine; “Global Bond Fund Manager of the Year” (2nd place) in 2000 by Finanzen; and I was the only fixed income manager featured by Bilanz’s ranking of top performing managers in 1999. In 2002, I left Schroders to join Millennium Global Investments Ltd and co-fund a macro hedge fund, which, with strong early performance, raised $300m in its first year of trading. Subsequently, I was appointed CEO of Millennium Global in 2007 and led the firm for 16 years. As part of my leadership of the firm, I established a top-performing global business development department. Relatedly and to enhance our brand value proposition I was prominent in industry thought leadership via speaking engagements at institutional investment management conferences, video webinars, and appearances on CNBC. More recently, I created our widely-available podcast “Macro Matters” to discuss topical global macro and currency related issues.
