If all goes according to plan, we'll be up and running by the fall of 2018.Socially conscious weed shoppers will be able to support an independent and intentional marijuana industry at Amoeba Records' new recreational pot shop, Hi Fidelity, at 2465 Telegraph Ave. in Berkeley. Located in Amoeba Records' former jazz and classical section and owned by legendary record retailers Marc Weinstein and David Prinz, Hi Fidelity hosted a grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin on May 12. It's arguably one of the best cannabis retail locations in the country, just blocks from the UC Berkeley campus.

As Interim Controller, I was responsible for Three Primary Tasks:Assisting in Closing of the Books for 2014, Preparing for our Annual 4-day Shareholder’s Meeting in April, and Positioning the Company to be ready for its first full Financial Audit.With regard to the Financial Audit, I was responsible for:• Introducing myself and our Company to our CPA firm, • Working with the Audit Firm prior to their Site Visit to determine exactly what they wanted,• Directing and assisting our Finance Department in getting our financial and business records in order,• Explaining to the entire Company the purpose of the audit and the importance of it proceeding quickly and efficiently, • Urging the Company and all employees to cooperate fully with the auditors,• Bringing our records up to date,• Having everything ready for the auditors to review on the day they began their site work,• Directing our Company throughout the six-week site visit, and• Providing all additional information requested both during and after the on-site work.

Ran Finance and Accounting Department of this $18.5 million business (Year 2011), along with a team of two. Major responsibilities:• Responsible for developing and implementing all Company's Planning and Control duties, including Internal Controls and Development of Operating Standards and Procedures.• Preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly internal financial statements, along with all other reports requested by Executive Team.• Establish and maintain contact with all city, county, state, and federal regulatory and reporting agencies. • Sole Liaison to the Company's outside CPA/Tax firm.• Handle All Company's Risk Management. • Primary contact with out-sourced Human Resource firm. Major Accomplishments:• Successfully settled company's $7.8 million dollar debt (from 2007) to California State Board of Equalization with a $49,500 offer in compromise in December 2012. • Guided organization through a 7-month close of business prompted by the US Department of Justice in May 2012.• Responsible for obtaining financing for build-out of new retail facility, handled all job-costing for said project, and along with the Company Team, reopened our business, meeting ALL US DOJ guidelines, in December 2012.• Raised over $500k in capital during 2012 to spearhead construction, with all monies repaid by August 2013.• Turned 2012 Annual Revenues of $8.1 million, with a $500k net loss into a 9-month 2013 revenue base of $9.0 million with a $675k net operating profit, and the year isn’t over yet!• Average weekly Accounts Payable balance has moved from $375k in 2009 to a current outstanding weekly balance of $45k.
