Provided hands-on leadership as this 501(c)(3) operating private foundation repositioned from a small business operation to a multi-faceted innovation operation. I served as a strategic partner to the Board and executive team in developing and implementing scalable financial and operating systems and a new organizational structure.--> Repositioned and grew a $200M portfolio (with 50% in cash) to a $600M endowment model, well-diversified portfolio producing top-quartile returns.--> Launched an impact investment initiative. Within four years, the impact portfolio grew to 20% of the total portfolio in public and top-tier private funds and is a leader among its peers.--> Managed direct property holdings, the Fairmont Building and Foundation Farm, and subsequently oversaw the successful and timely $45.4M sale of the Fairmont Building.

Working with the CEO, I built the foundation's policies, systems and infrastructure, and an administrative team. I later became Chief Investment Officer. --> Developed and implemented business and operating sustainable processes, systems and procedures - delivering organizational effectiveness. --> Grew the foundation’s endowment portfolio from $200M to $700M through the development of a long-term strategic plan that delivered consistent, sustainable growth.--> Transitioned the Foundation to a dedicated Outsources Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) model – a move that enhanced portfolio performance, improved operational efficiencies, established a direct PE and VC program, and streamlined investment governance.

Joined this 501(c)(3) operating private foundation – a spinoff of the Gannett Foundation – as Accounting Services Manager then earning progressive promotions to become Director of Treasury Operations.--> Developed and enhanced investment reporting and performance measurements for a portfolio that peaked at $900M, enabling quantification of the impact various investment outcomes made on the foundation’s financial well-being and helped ensure it reached its strategic objectives. --> Developed and implemented the financial business plan for Newseum’s NewsCapade with Al Neuharth, which led to the successful launch and operation of NewsCapade.--> Cut property & casualty insurance premium costs by 20% following a top-to-bottom review of risk management and insurance programs.
