During my time working as electrical project engineer for the small works and facilities management division, I was given the opportunity to learn from some of the best people in the business. I would consult daily with an array of departments including engineering, procurement, estimation, project management, health & safety, quality control and accounts. This gave me great insight into the company as a whole and its various work streams. Some of my main duties are explained below.Duties & Responsibilities- Preparing and altering design drawings with design input. Competent in using AutoCAD.- Drawing Take-Offs – comparison of tender / new revisions and preparing additional works/take-off for pricing.- Ensuring procurement schedules up to date and issued weekly.- Co-ordination of delivery of materials to the site, including checking quantity and quality of deliveries.- Implement the company's policies and procedures. - Represent the company in a professional manner at all times.- Manage the programme and cost of works on a daily basis.- Working with suppliers to generate technical submittals to the client’s requirements.- Use of lighting design software both dialux and relux.- Proficient in use of cable sizing software Amtech.- Carry out regular surveys of sites and completed installations. Complete site and installation reports.- Ensure the installations were ready for commissioning on the expected due dates.- Resolve any arising issues between client, design team and main contractor.- Responsible for engineers on site and ensuring all electrical engineering work was completed on schedule.- Liaise with the health and safety department on a daily basis with forward planning essential to every task.- Use of company standardised documentation.
