San Diego Health Connect (SDHC)- Successful management of a project (SAFR) connecting paramedics with EDs via SDHC's HIE. Grant goal was 10% of ambulance/paramedic runs would query the HIE for patient information at the scene. Actual results were 42%! Based on the results of this pilot, the federal government recently awarded California $16 million to expand SAFR including $1.6 million to SDHC- Previously, this 4.5 year engagement has included: overseeing the Go-Lives for Sharp and Scripps; facilitating the Clinical Workgroup; achieving business goals as interim operations manager;Scripps Health Enterprise HIE Mark was brought in to get Scripps unstuck and lead the evaluation team in choosing the correct solution. The system is successfully Live at 5 hospitals and a 700 person medical group. Adjunct Professor (7 years)Health information interoperability and standards is a broad and rapidly evolving area with no one textbook covering the curricula. National was stuck and brought Mark in to develop the course and teach. He later converted it to an online course and had students from across the country. Although not an easy course, student scores and evaluations were high. Mark was brought in to do a gap analysis regarding the new regulations and then lead the evaluation and selection of an enterprise HIE.
