Undergraduate Research AssistantUniversity Of Minnesota - Twin Cities - Civil Engineering Department Sep 2004 - May 2005Worked in the structures laboratory while pursuing my B.S. in Civil Engineering. Experience in literature research, field test design and preparation, data analysis, and report writing. The majority of my time was spent preparing for and analysing data from a test on a horizontally curved I girder bridge. The project was sponsored by the Minnesota Dept. of Transportation and it's purpose was to develop a less conservative method of rating existing and new bridges. A bridge rating corresponds to the weight limit trucks must adhere to if crossing the bridge. The current method was too conservative, and resulted in routing of trucks around bridges with low ratings, an unnecessary expense for the transportation industry.
