Being one of two managers, I am involved in every aspect of the day to day running of this venue. I am responsible for a team of up to 20 people. Aside from the expected tasks any assistant manager has to do, I also am responsible for payroll, staff rotas, live music nights, comedy nights, pub quizzes, social media and all general promotion of the venue.

Being part of a strong bar team in this venue, I helped assist the duty managers on shift with the running of the venue. This is a very busy and popular restaurant in Melbourne, which meant being able to run the bar efficiently and supervise the other bartenders on duty. Coffee making and the successful dispense of drinks to tables were critical in this role due the the high volume of customers coming through the door. As this venue is part of the Di Mattina group which owns many coffee shops throughout the city, it was here I became extremely confident in coffee making and general barista skills.

The Tommyfield in Kennington is part of the Renaissance group which own several successful busy restaurants/bars across South London. As one of only two bartenders, being able to work on your own and be competent with the running of the entire venue was very important.

PJ O'Brien's is one of Melbourne's busiest and most popular bars. This venue is extremely busy and working well as part of a team is vital for employment here. During my time here I attended several courses ranging from cocktails to coffee making, to whisky and vodka training.

After moving to Australia on a working holiday visa, I gained employment at this very busy restaurant/bar in the heart of the Melbourne Southbank. I was involved in all aspects of the running of the restaurant and in my first 6 months working here, starting running the bar shifts on the busy weekends.

Walkabout is a very busy 2000 capacity bar which meant being very active and confident. As well as waiting on tables and bartending, I was expected to supervise functions, set up the two bars for sport/live music events and be involved in some staff training.

The majority of my employment here was working in Jongleurs Comedy club. Some of the duties I had here included setting up the 400 capacity venue, greeting and seating guests as well as the comedians, general waiting on tables and bartending, running shifts on the bar, cash handling and closing the venue to a high standard.
