Developer and data scientist at fast-growing, dynamic startup in Kendall Square. Built a web application (Java, Backbone) that enabled customers to manage their advertising budget and bids. By coordinated the product release with the sales and business development team, revenue increased 5x.Analyzed relationship between ad list length and click rates and quantified the impact on profit. Analyzed historical ad list data and built a minimum bid algorithm to determine if the lowest bidder should be dropped from an auction to maximize the value of the ad impression. Implemented user interface to communicate to customers where their bid was in relation to the bid range.Developed automated daily dashboard report that processed customer actions (quotes and binds) and generated key metrics to manage the ad list auction product.

Media technology startup developing personalization technology. Two employees with $750K+ raised from National Science Foundation and angel investors. Responsibilities included product design and development, research and development, technical reports, hiring and management of 20+ interns and consultants.Built unsupervised recommendation engine for news articles. A/B testing showed clustering based on named entities outperformed popularity ranking. Served 9M recommendations to 350K unique visitors. Was unable to sell into newspaper market, so pivoted to affiliate advertising and built affiliate ad unit that provided in-unit interaction (Adobe Flex). Built high-performance ad server that served 4M page ad-impressions per day (C, FastCGI, Lighthttpd).

Customized interactive voice-response (IVR) system that provided phone-card service. Large-scale (60 application servers backed by 12-CPU Oracle database server), multi-threaded, and mission-critical---if the system was down, then the company had no revenue.Co-architected and developed an innovative, data-driven IVR customization tool. Created drag-and-drop interface for the web browser that enabled marketing to deliver custom messaging to specific customer segments. In first five years of operation, product had served over 500M calls with no outages.
