The facility opened in March 2020 and subsequently processed some 3 million tests over the course of the pandemic.• A key success from leading Research Solutions was ensuring that IT systems aligned to GSK’s data analytics ambition and strategy by ensuring data is accessible to be mined and processed for advanced analytics and decision making, including the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning.• In 2018, impact and excellence in engineering and technology were recognised with election to the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Managed a customer-facing group that supported two key scientific departments in GSK R&D. Accountable and responsible for defining and delivering an ambitious ~£900m 7-year Manufacturing Technology Roadmap to transform medicines manufacturing. During the latter part of the role, accountability expanded to include an R&D automation group and an R&D operations and strategy group.• Led the Manufacturing Technology Roadmap program that industrialised GSK’s first commercial multi-stage continuous synthesis and continuous secondary tabletting technologies. GSK’s first enzyme-based chemical transformation and incubated various transformative manufacturing technologies with external partners.• Key role in establishing the Medicines Manufacturing Industrial Partnership (MMIP) in 2014 and represented GSK in this partnership and leading the technology workstream of MMIP. MMIP was established to represent and support UK medicines manufacturing and advise the UK government on strengthening and growing this important manufacturing sector. • Along with Andrew Livingston from Imperial College, led the creation of the Engineered Medicines Laboratory (EML) in 2015, a multimillion-pound collaboration between Imperial College and GSK. The EML explored a new approach to the development of medicines, where researchers from a range of scientific fields, including life sciences, physical sciences, engineering, and medicine, worked side-by-side on projects. This was a unique approach to pharmaceutical research in the UK.
