It supports practicing, and aspiring arboricultural consultants on their journey. I took over as Chairman, in effect, running it, in December 2009. In 2011, Bob Widd joined, and soon offered to help. He became the constitutional chairman in 2012, and I, still running it, became the Executive Director. It is now a Community Interest Company, and a Lantra registered training provider. In 2011, we launched the Consulting Arborist Magazine, a weekly e-news on-line journal for members, and others, which I edit.CAS became a Lantra Registered Training Provider in 2013, and in May 2014, the first CAS course recived Lantra-endorsement: peer reviews of BS5837:2012 Tree Reports, This was followed in November 2014 by 'Tree Preservation Orders: Effective Application' and 'Young Trees: Achieving Longevity in the Landscape'. This has been a major achievement, especially as it is a new experience for me.
