Van Lierop Construction supplies single and serial welding assemblies based on customer specific wishes. This varies from sheet metal parts to finished prototypes and robot-welded end products. The philosophy at Van Lierop is to have your own enterprise within the company itself. In this position I am responsible for contact with the customer, order intake and offering quotations. In addition, I take care of the planning and operational management of the production team, including hiring and lay off. Since another part of the role includes taking care of work preparation, purchasing and after sales, you are involved in the process from start to finish. The common thread is to ensure a stable process, in which the constant search for improvements is key. As a member of the Management team I co-determine the strategy of the company and what the focus will be on, which I experience as very challenging and educational. In addition to my position, I have been given the opportunity to fulfill the role of project leader in the implementation of a new ERP system.

As a Section Manager I am responsible for three production departments, Mining, Connector-line and Excavator Buckets. These departments combined consist of approximately 40 people and the processes include tackwelding, assembling, general welding, robot-welding and final assembly. My main focus is delivering results on several area’s of Safety, Quality, Velocity and Cost. Furthermore mainly responsible for continuous improvement.

In view of the company's ambition, a professionalization step is necessary and introducing a new ERP system is part of this. As a foundation for this, the current business processes should be kept under review and possible improvements will be made. In parallel, I explored other enhancements like inventory optimization. Analyzing processes, preparing for ERP-transition, process improvement.

Main focus on problem solving, continuous research for improvements and implementing these. Applying Lean-methods, One-Piece-Flow, Chaku Chaku. This varies from the visualization of inventory to machine purchases and optimizing factory lay-out. Involved with New Product Introduction (NPI) and the transitioning to production.

Within the Dutch Quality Group, which supplies her design furniture under the Design On Stock label, I was responsible for the productionline of design sofas. A production line consists of a team of an average of twenty people. Responsible for planning, capacity, waste reduction, reaching targets and optimize production lay-out. Also the complete route of order intake, purchasing of raw materials to arranging transport was part of my role. Developed skills matrix and creating a Lean process by using 5S, Kanban, managing flow and implementing pull.
