At Wellington SPCA we generate income through the full range of fundraising activities. To fundamentally grow the scale, professionalism and long term nature of our activities. Whilst growing this I have been focussing on achieving greater collaboration among the SPCA network, to ensure we can benefit nationally from the expertise required to engage supporters in the modern age.

I initially started doing work for AHT as a consultant looking at rebuilding their income from charitable giving. I eventually went full time helping build a team of professionals looking at growing stable long term income, reducing the charities reliance on Bequests. So we grew regular income from people at all levels, whether it be one off giving, monthly giving, challenge events (or Peer to Peer) giving. Of course at the same time encouraging Bequests to continue.

Westwood Forster provide services to charities ranging from strategic support to software supply. My role was to help organisations better understand the how to work with the supporters and transition to supporter lifetime value based fundraising rather than just focussing on campaign value.In this I was fortunate enough to work on projects with some of the UK's largest charities through to some of the smaller.

Having spent time in the UK in late 1996 through to early 1997 helping to establish the fundraising office of CBM, I transferred there full time in late 1998 when I had found my replacement in NZ.Over the next three years we grew income to over $3 million per annum and active donors to over 60,000.

Whilst not well known in their work, CBM are actually the worlds largest provider of eye care services, at the time helping over 11 million people every year.I became involved by helping them establish the office in New Zealand and saw through from being a branch of the Australian office to setting up with a local board of trustees.
