I have have had the special opportunity to work in the music industry for over 35 years. since (other than my wife and my son) music is the #1 love of my life, I consider myself to be a very fortunate person. I have worked with amazing artists at magical times in their careers...Heart upon the release of "Dreamboat Annie," The Dixie Dregs (one of the most amazing acts one will ever see live), and I was able to work for Miles Copeland & Jay Boberg as IRS Records began to unfold. This afforded me the ability to work with artists like The Police, Squeeze, Oingo Boingo, the Dead Kennedys, and Bangles. But the real joy at IRS was participating in the process to break such artists as The Go Gos, R.E.M., The English Beat, the Buzzcocks, Wall Of Voodoo, Concrete Blonde, Fine Young Cannibals, The Alarm, and many others. I also spent 12 years as Vp/Retail for The album Network....perhaps the most special place of all to be employeed. It's hard to explain Album Net, except to say I was able to work with an amazing group of people, every label, manager, and artist that existed, create lasting friendships with independent music retailers, and work for the best in the business in Steve Smith & Eli Bird. Those were very special days that will never return and I can say I was there and watched a magazine grow from eight people to over 100 employees and three different weekly publications...that didn't count our radio shows, live broadcasts, and other special events. I also got to meet John Lee Hooker when I was there. it just doesn't get better than that.
