In this role I lead a team of customs professionals across the Europe, Asia-Pacific and Americas markets, to enable the Volvo Cars goal of ‘zero waste duties’ using a ‘customs by design’ approach. We drive and deliver optimal customs and trade compliance solutions for all new car programs, strategic initiatives, and improvements across the organisation and related affiliates (Polestar, Zenseact, Lynk & Co, etc.) to support and enable key strategic decisions.

In this role I provided strategic analysis of the customs implications for all new car programs, strategic initiatives, and improvements across the organisations production sites, distribution and sales channels, and export and logistics functions. I was also responsible for project management and the delivery of customs and export control inputs to ensure the successful completion of activities, helping drive a ‘customs by design’ approach. In this role I developed an in-depth knowledge of customs/trade compliance requirements and issues within the EU, working extensively with EU Customs authorities in Slovakia, Spain, and Sweden.

In this role I provided strategic advice on duty implications and trade compliance issues to New Zealand importers and exporters. I also provided advice and support to understand the impact of key business decisions and how to optimise free trade agreement networks. I worked closely with the New Zealand Customs Service to help resolve compliance issues.

In this role I provided strategic advice on customs, indirect taxes, and international trade compliance issues to multi-national corporations across a range of industries. I also provided advice on the impact of key business decisions and how to optimise free trade agreements. I developed an in-depth understanding of global trade within China and the Asia Pacific region and worked closely with local Customs authorities and government officials in Greater China. Auckland New Zealand

In this role I provided operational advice to multi-national corporations across a range of industries to help develop economically supportable transfer prices, document policies and outcomes, and respond to questions raised by tax authorities. I was also responsible for providing operational advice and support across a range of customs requirements including duties, excise and import GST. I worked closely with the New Zealand Customs Service and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade to help resolve compliance and export sanctions issues. In this role I provided an expert analysis on transfer pricing and customs related for publication by International Tax Review

In this role I investigated serious criminal offending at the New Zealand border with a focus on revenue fraud, drug smuggling, importation of offensive material, and money laundering. I worked closely with other law enforcement partners and government agencies, in New Zealand and internationally to keep harm from New Zealand and its communities and to prevent criminal activity.
