About Mark Crane Beng (Hons)
My current role has involved the implementation, development and optimisation of maintenance plans and Vehicle Maintenance Schedules across all Hitachi Rail products. Relying on Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) principles to improve maintenance task frequency and running projects to optimise Reliability, Availability and Maintainability of components the role has been challenging and rewarding. It has also incorporated troubleshooting of servicability issues across the fleets from a maintenance perspective with a particular focus on Generator Unit reliability and maintenance frequency improvement in conjunction with our partners at MTU. I have a good mix of hands-on and managerial experience having had over 17 years’ engineering experience across rotary and fixed wing aircraft in the British Army and having spent the last 4 years working on a wide variety of UK Rolling Stock assets. A qualified project manager (APMP & Prince2) with Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) Lean and Six Sigma training, I take a systematic and analytical approach to all aspects of technical and planning work, which in the past has included scheduled and un-scheduled maintenance, fleet planning, spares provision, modification programmes, inspections, tooling and work recording documentation (paperwork and electronic copies), completing work on time and on budget. I have excellent written and verbal communication skills which have allowed me to communicate effectively, from the shop floor to board room level presentations. I have an easy going and approachable style of communication which allows me to get the best from those around me. I have worked as part of engineering teams in diverse and, at times challenging locations, worldwide and mentored a number of junior technicians. I am equally comfortable as part of a team or working alone. Outside of work my passion for Engineering has led me to study for my Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with the Open University. I am a keen runner and swimmer, and enjoy building Lego with my 7 year old son.
Listed skills include Team Building, Aviation, Military Aviation, Lean Manufacturing, and 33 others.
