CurrentLeadership and development of this large social enterprise which supports the community through encouraging participation in physical activity across all demographics. Key responsibilities include strategy, governance, finance and board level advocacy.• Grown turnover from £6m to over £13m pa and generated significant profit each year. • Generated and invested over £15m of capital into facility improvements and innovative new services, ensuring continued growth. The primary source of capital has been reinvestment of profit generated supported by matched capital funding from bids to Sport England. and local authority spend to save projects etc. • Reduced cost to the taxpayer from a £1m council management fee for services each year to a position in which the company pays rent to the local authority of £370k pa. This has been achieved through effective commercial investment, cultural change and cost management. • Increased facilities in contract from 4 to 7, generating an additional £3M turnover and c. £170k in profit pa. • Improved quality of service and staff delivery via accreditation to Investor in People (silver award), Quest and ISO Standards (9001, 14001 & 18001).• Developed successful shared strategies with stakeholders such as the unique “Active Card” scheme which now has over 100,000 members. • Reduced costs as a % of turnover in key business areas; for example staff cost as % of income now at 47% down from 69% in 2005-6.• Developed award-winning business culture, receiving Association for Public Service Excellence award for Public / Private Partnership in 2011, South West Business Leaders “Business in the Community” Award 2015 and Winner of Sport England National Benchmarking Award for Efficiency in 2018 – 19.• Won the Institute of Directors South West – Director of the Year (Third Sector) Award, 2016.
