Aberdeen

I was responsible for the recruitment, on-boarding and leadership of the global business development team across the Aberdeen, Houston, Dubai and Kuala Lumpur offices. This extended to introducing people from my network to the business. I led the co-ordination and focussing of efforts on large opportunities with regulatory bodies, IOC's and NOC's to secure recognition of the OPITO standards. This included bringing opportunities from my existing network as well as guiding the team on developing OPITO's industry forums to build local understanding, connections and visable presence with a focus on new business. Through introducing new management information reporting, the team developed a new understanding of where business was growing and which products had potential on a market by market basis. We also conducted a pricing study to understand OPITO's competitive position in respect of certification pricing. The focussed approach was successful in all international markets with the team securing agreement recognition of OPITO products. This included countries where OPITO had been present for a long time as well as new country entries. The team also successfully developed and executed competecy consulting activities in Malaysia and Uganda with the aim of securing further market presence.

I established Proclad Academy for the Oil & Gas Service Company the Proclad Group. The Academy provides professional, technical and HSE training to the Engineering and Energy Sectors. Based at our extensive training centre in Dubai, Proclad Academy has successfully delivered programmes across the Gulf Region. Proclad Academy has full KHDA approval from the Dubai Government operating on an Institute license. Proclad Academy operates in partnerships with Robert Gordon University, the Energy Institute and several UK Colleges.

The role was as a senior manager with the responsibility for the commercial development of the College. I reported directly to the College Principal and the College Board of Management. The College is a multi-campus institution that has a financial turnover of £32m. My specific responsibility is an income target of £4.8m from commercial sources and 26 staff. The College was formed as the result of merger in April 2005. As part of the leadership team, I had a significant role in shaping and leading the College and my teams through the merger process resulting in one of the most successful College mergers in the UK. This was evidenced through increased student numbers and commercial success as well as an excellent HMIe inspection report. My post was enhanced from Associate to Assistant Principal at the point of merger.In addition to my specific responsibilities listed below I also fulfil my role as an Assistant Principal with cross-college responsibilities this includes chairing the Lecturing and Support Staff Union consultation and negotiation frameworks.

Role: I joined Glenrothes College as a result of an approach from the College Principal. The College was a supplier and partner to BRAG Enterprises, my previous employer. The role was to lead the commercial development of the College. A priority was placed on the development of International activity, more specifically VET Development. Other aspects of the role are described in my current role above.

Role: BRAG Enterprises is a Social Enterprise in a deprived area of Fife. I was the Chief Officer responsible for recommending the strategic direction of the company to the Board of Directors. I managed the implementation of strategic decisions across the organisation including funding, marketing and IT. The Company held a range contracts including the NewDeal Voluntary Sector Option, 25 lAP route way and two Gateway to work contracts. The company delivered all contracts on profile and achieved or exceed all performance targets.

Role: The role initially involved supporting community organisations and social enterprises with their business development objectives. Later the role shifted to supporting internal Council reviews of public services and the development of business strategies for a wide range of Council Services. This included the plans and operation of Council nurseries and nursing homes.Key Achievements:-Securing jobs and services through improved performance-Development of an area strategy for local economic development

Role: The role involved investigating new business ideas, carrying out feasibility studies and advising on financial management. The post also required delivering training to community organisations on legal structures, marketing and business planning
