I am a multiple award-winning BBC radio presenter, journalist and writer, I have presented several "West Country" travel series for BBC Points West TV which included exploring the hidden wartime village of Imber on Salisbury Plain, the secret island under the Severn Bridge and inside the water tower on the Bristol Downs. I have written a monthly column for Cotswold Life for the last twenty years documenting what really goes on in the Cotswolds with everything from an interview with the real Rosie from Laurie Lee's Cider with Rosie to the gossip overheard at book launches at Jilly Cooper's House as well witty observations that sum up the Costwolds soul.I am a published travel writer so connect if you would like me to bring your holidays, destinations and adventures to a wider audience.Having travelled extensively as a backpacker, now as an empty nester, I write pieces that will inspire others to follow in my footsteps. My book Glorious Gloucestershire was published on Sept 5th, with gigs at The Cheltenham Literature Festival, Gloucester History Festival and Stroud Book Festival. Travel Adventures:Pre-children - I spent a couple of years backpacking which included ending up by mistake in a house of ill repute in Phuket, selling Insurance in Sydney, living with locals on the banks of the Coca in the Amazon Rainforest, exploring the Galapagos islands on a tiny yacht and criss-crossing the USA from West to East via Amtrak trains. Other highlights included New Zealand, Tahiti, Canada, Kenya and Tanzania. With a young family - American road trips including San Francisco to LA and Las Vegas, Boston, New York and Cape Cod. As an Empty Nester - Adventures in Uruguay and Argentina exploring the hidden gems of Buenos Aires, hiking in La Gomera, island hopping in Greece, cycle trips to Normandy D-Day Landing Beaches, 10 day hostel-to-hostel challenge in the Lake District, hiking in the Yorkshire Dales, the Brecon Beacons and Scotland. As a keen walker, cyclist and campervan owner I am always on the move sharing my experiences in a unique style in print, online and broadcast media. I am a season ticket holder for Gloucester Rugby, an honorary member of The Gloucester Civic Trust and former Mock Mayor of Barton (a fun, non-political role dating back to the English Civil War).
