About Mark C. Weaver, Pmp

I work with the Texas Department of Transportation's (TxDOT) Alternative Delivery Division (ALD) as the Center of Excellence Section Director, supporting our Alternative Delivery Program (ADP) and associated Design-Build/P3 highway projects. As the compliance, technology, and business operations lead, I focus on the division's oversight role for the ADP through coordination with local District Project and Program Managers, and division-internal pre-procurement/procurement, implementation and maintenance sections. After retiring from the U.S. Army in 2018, I used my holistic management experience, combined with Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, to provide management, training, and leadership expertise to a small commercial plumbing company during a Hiring our Heroes Corporate Fellowship and beyond. Provided PM, organization, and leadership during new construction, major renovation, and service projects for USAF, state agencies, UT system, Travis County, and Austin ISD.Prior to my retirement, I served for 26 years in the U.S. Army, I was a successful and proven combat leader. I found myself placed in numerous positions of trust, led small combat units, served in mid-level leadership positions, oversaw large & diverse staffs, and was selected to serve in executive leadership positions. Throughout my service, I gained extensive and widely-varying operations & project management experience, refined my skills as a trainer, built teams from diverse individuals, refined interpersonal & leadership skills, and communicated critical ideas to senior executives. My desire to serve others inspires me to provide pro-bono support as the Vice President of The 98 Fund, a 501(c)3 non-profit, since 2008. While initially focused on providing educational support to children of our fallen classmates, we have evolved to developing #TheAlaskaProject - A compound in Alaska where we can host retreats for veterans and families of our Fallen to promote mentorship of kids who have lost a parent by using people that knew their parent.I previously volunteered as the PMI-Austin Chapter's Military Outreach chair focused on helping veterans transition into the PM world and continue providing ad hoc volunteer support to that program as well as TxDOT’s internal PMP mentoring program. Finally, I refined my interpersonal, coaching and training skills by serving as a Skydiving Instructor since the late 1990s and teaching well over 2,500 people to jump.
