I accepted my first professional leadership assignment after college in 1989. Without any training, I started managing crews of 15-30 rowdy San Francisco IATSE Union Stagehands. I started reading the classic leadership books and attending personal growth seminars in the Bay Area and LA in the 90's. I started Law School in 95 and during my 4 years I worked in dysfunctional law offices as a paralegal during the day. Frustrated, I hired a professional coach and started my own paralegal company. So when I passed the California Bar and opened my own immigration law office, I included DISC, conflict management, cultural diversity, reflective listening and accountability skills in my operations manual. I studied mediation and coaching to improve my leadership in my business. Not surprisingly, we quickly gained market share and distinction. In 2004 I started consulting and training other attorneys in these skills through bar associations and professional networks, while growing my business. After 17 years of forming, storming, norming and performing in the law business, I sold my law office and accepted the offer to work as a leadership coach and team development consultant with Transformative Solutions.
