His work at Beacon allows him to integrate his business and technical skills, following through on projects like initiating and building the digital marketing business area and establishing solid relationships with partners like Google (Google Analytics), Lockheed Martin (US Gov - EPA), Hannon Hill (Cascade Server CMS), Nextopia, Bronto Software (email marketing) and many other best-in-class software partners. With clients in 45 U.S. states and 5 countries, including over 150 colleges and universities, Beacon is poised for continued growth as a recognized leader of web design and developent, digital marketing and web hosting services primarily for Higher Education and Multi-Family Residential Property Management.Under his care, Beacon has been consistently named the largest web development company in the Triad by the Business Journal, is identified as one of the best places to work in the Triad by the Business Journal and the Greensboro News & Record, received the Entrepreneurial Success Award by the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce and was recognized by Working Mother’s magazine as one of the top 25 small businesses in the U.S. for working moms. In 2014, Mark was named as the Small Business Person of the Year by the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce, but will be the first to say that it was a Beacon “team” effort. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the NC Technology Association.

Program Manager for AT&T's Global Corporate Intranet for HRISO, serving 150K employees worldwide, one of the first major corporations to utilize PIN security and online self-service functionality. Also served as the Lead Engineer on AT&T's medical claims system, processing millions of employee records each month into a massive multi-dimensional database for reporting & research purposes (similar to today's "big data" concepts).Worked my way from the technical development ranks: 1985-88, Programmer, Accounting Systems for NC and MA; 1988-91: Programmer, Purchasing Systems, 1991-94: Lead Engineer, Medical Claims System; 1994-1998, Senior Systems Engineer, Corporate Intranet Development/Management.
