The L.B. Research and Education Foundation supports US-based nonprofit organizations providing innovative solutions for groups that face education opportunity gaps tied to poverty, gender, race/ethnicity, and trauma. The foundation is also focused on research-informed programming for mental and physical health for vulnerable populations.

The Global Challenges Local Solutions (GCLS) Fund provides long-term funding via small grants to community foundations and local philanthropic organizations throughout Europe for the purpose of identifying and implementing local solutions to global challenges. Mark oversaw the development and delivery of charitable programmes through the UK's 48 community foundations. He directed the network's IT, member services and communications efforts. He also provided advice to individuals, corporations, and public or charitable-sector bodies to increase the scale of philanthropy deployed via community foundations.The UK's 48 community foundations oversee a collective endowment of £500 million, and granted £70 million in 2015.Mark is a member of the European Community Foundation Initiative (ECFI) Management Team. ECFI provides a learning and development infrastructure for community foundations and supporting organisations throughout Europe. He is also on the Board of the Global Challenges, Local Solutions Program run by the Academy for the Development of Philanthropy in Poland.

Mark was a senior member of the investment team responsible for executing strategy and directing investment operations & communications in support of 1,800 funds and $4.7 billion in charitable assets under management. He oversaw investment advisory relationships across 80 portfolios utilizing traditional and alternative investments.
