Starting my career as a Sales Advisor I had the opportunity to identify the development needs in a very new industry. My previous experience gave me an insight into the level that could be achieved and I set about achieving it. The work I did contributed to my team building a National Sales business that produced over 60% of the new sales acquired to organically grow a customer base from 2 to over 5 million customers. My Direct Workforce changed the landscape of the Energy Market in the UK. Scottish Power was the only one of the “Big Six” energy suppliers not to rely on acquisition for growth. The 4 million customers we gained came through hard line SALES. The various roles I played during that journey always provided me with tremendous personal development opportunities that I embraced throughout the duration of my time there. I developed my own psychological approach to sales (GAMES & SPORT), which was used to build a training and development infrastructure around. These critical to quality sales processes were the cornerstone of our achievements. I was also successful in creating a “Leadership – Follow-ship” initiative that brought a real consistency across our various sales platforms in our business. Once implemented, we witnessed rapid culture change and performance enhancement. The project I lead at The Direct Workforce was mirrored throughout the UK as we built a third party sales agency network from Lands End to John O'Groats.
