Started my own consulting business, first working out of my house, then moved to an office building. I have sold several lines of software, most successfully with Real World, Passport Business Systems and CounterPoint. I continued to work with SCO Unix and Xenix, Microsoft operating systems and Linux. I work closely with my clients to minimize business.

The job title changed several times, but the job never did. I'm not an engineer, it's just a title. But I got paid to support customers and help them solve problems, which I truly enjoy. Helped with sales support, troubleshooting, some application development, some training. Also deepened my knowledge of accounting software and accounting in general. Left.

Being a slow learner, I took another job in sales, trying to sell Xerox copiers and typewriters, as well as Apple computers to small businesses and farmers in a rural area. During this time period, the original MacIntosh was introduced. The ag business still was in a huge slump, rural communities were all feeling the pinch, and this job didn't last very.

Trying to establish dealerships in Missouri and Arkansas for this accounting software company. The focus was still on the farm industry which continued to be in a huge slump. Red Wing remains on my list of favorite employers. Very classy and honorable people to work for.

First job in the computer business, trying to sell Radio Shack TRS-80 Model III computers to farmers, in a rural town. The entire ag business was in a huge slump and there weren't enough sales.

Briefly employed as an outside sales representative for very small office supply store.

Manage and direct personnel in a small shoe store.

Started as a manager trainee working in Store #40 in Kansas City. Became the manager of Store #124 in Ft. Wayne IN, then of Store #13 in Columbus OH.

Enjoyed the people and the job, but unless I was interested in moving up in religious bookstore management there wasn't much of a future. Left to take a job as a Manager In Training with B. Dalton Bookseller.
