Spearheaded startup of Capital Bank Mortgage, a new division of the bank. Responsible for capital markets, post-closing, budgeting, and execution of the business plan. Led the transformation of the mortgage company from a wholesale lender to a regional retail and consumer direct unit closing in excess of $880 million with profits of over $5 million. • Executed on the board of directors wholesale business concept. Established policies, procedures, and best practices to meet the requirements of new and existing regulations. Identified and vetted potential wholesale clients who generated volumes in excess of 100 million per annum.• Developed and managed all capital markets functions. Led the transformation from a best effort to mandatory model. Managed pipeline hedging related activities for the bank including: selecting an adviser, creating and updating policies and procedures, monitoring adviser activities, providing accounting support, reporting to the secondary marketing and risk management committees, and preparing performance reports for the Board of Directors. • Converted the hedge platform from fully managed to a self-hedge model. Performed best execution analysis, committed inventoried loans, worked with counterparties on pricing, and modeled and traded MBS securities to reduce interest rate risk. • Established and maintained counterparty relationships. Led the efforts to obtain agency approvals from Fannie Mae, Federal Housing Administration, Freddie Mac, US Department of Agriculture, and the Veteran’s Administration. Analyzed and negotiated loan purchase agreements and reported all areas of risk and mitigation techniques to senior management. • Directly reported to the bank’s CEO and responsible for margin management and product offerings.
