About Markell Jackson, Ph.D., Mba, Ed.S Msed

Hello, my name is Dr. Markell Jackson, and I have overcome significant early difficulties to become a Practitioner-Scholar Leader with a clear vision of instructional leadership and human resource issues, ready to tackle and solve the thorniest issues facing urban school districts. I have a history of developing innovative programs to increase the effectiveness of K-12 special education programs and improve the academic achievement of special needs and at-risk children in diverse communities, using my extensive knowledge of evidence-based models, classroom management, instructional coaching, and learning behavior disorders. I’m also a Human Resources visionary that overcomes obstacles to achieve repeated success resolving complex employment and employee communications issues. I have experience in large urban, rural, and suburban school communities as well as in Seoul, South Korea. I’ve worked in Pre-K, elementary, middle, and high school charter and non-public schools as well as correctional facilities, all in communities with incomes below the federal poverty threshold and have brought these students incredible success and self-confidence. I pride myself in my ability to motivate students to reach their maximum learning potential. In 2020, I was an associate in the New York State Superintendent Development Program. I’m looking for my next challenge to use my knowledge, experience, and passion to give students a sense of pride, accomplishment, and achievement. I am currently working in Fairfax County Public Schools. My goal is to get back into school leadership. My long-term goal is to become superintendent of schools.
