Management and technology consulting for software, network engineering, and data-centric companies. I specialize in working with startup companies to recruit, build, and manage effective early-stage engineering teams. I bring experience with distributed systems, networking, cloud services, and modern DevOps practices, built over several decades working in and advising startup companies in a variety of management and engineering roles, and in academic research involving machine learning methods. I tend to work on dedicated engagements (e.g., consulting CTO or VP Engineering roles) but I am periodically available for short-term consulting to help plan technical strategy, business planning, preparation for fundraising, or to solve specific technical issues.
