All of my work comes from referrals or through my website.I have a well established reputation as an web developer, designing sites from very small low traffic sites for very localised small businesses to large high volume sites optimised for very high traffic volumes (one example being the official website for the visit of Pope Benedict to the UK). Recent projects have included bespoke PHP/MySQL sites, Wordpress based sites, Prestashop installations and eZ Publish. I also provide and/or manage the hosting of a large number of websites.Search Engine Optimisation is an area of particular interest to me and I am regularly shocked by the way businesses are taken for a ride by companies claiming to specialise in SEO and charging significant monthly fees for doing nothing at all (or almost nothing at all)By becoming familiar with the businesses I work with I am able to develop flexible database systems that meet their immediate needs but are capable of growing with them as they change both in scale and architecture. Many of my database systems have helped businesses to save vast amounts of time and money and/or provide a higher quality of service than was previously possible. Recent database projects have included MS Access for multiple users in SMEs, MS Access/MS SQL Server integration for higher performance and larger numbers of users, MS Access/MySQL integration for multi-site working using a web based database back end and Libre Office Base.I am a strong advocate for the use of Open Source technologies where appropriate, I am familiar with Mac, Windows and Unix based environments.
