"Work" in an organization is seldom designed, rather it “evolves” in response to performance gaps exposed by growth and change. Under pressure for time and results, "local improvements" are used with little understanding of the impact on overall performance, “interim solutions” are used to close the critical gaps, "workarounds" are developed for smaller problems, and automation is used to streamline the complicated workarounds and interim solutions. Interim solutions and workarounds are often necessary to maintain business continuity, but unless the source of the gap is mitigated, the gap will resurface in response to continued growth and change, creating a continuous cycle of heroic action that over time creates complicated work processes to complete even the most simple tasks. Work process often resemble a "Rube Goldberg" machine. Functional, fun to watch, but very confusing to customers, inefficient, difficult to change or scale, and prone to breaking.I equip business leaders with the insights and tools needed to break the cycle of heroic action and create an environment of rapid business performance improvement. I started with running global logistics in the military, and leveraged that experience along with training in lean manufacturing, six sigma, and change management to lead product and plant turnarounds and global transformational and improvement programs at Fortune 100 companies in the Aerospace, Business Process Outsourcing, and Pharmaceuticals industries.I offer deep expertise in leading technology enabled transformational efforts in Shared Business Services and enterprise business process management that realize planned improvements in performance and productivity. My core belief is that nothing is impossible. Regardless of the pace of change, business complexity, operational or market “challenges,” new levels of performance are within reach.
