Mark is a highly educated and experienced executive with +30 years’ experience at Board, CEO, Managing Director and Senior Executive level in global multi-national and commercial government owned semi-state organisations across a range of sectors including Speciality Chemicals, Aviation, Real Estate, Telecommunications, Renewable Energy and Energy related Utilities. Mark is highly regarded as a key national leader in Ireland’s ambition to radically decarbonise the electricity system over this decade and is credited with transforming EirGrid plc over the last 5 years.In EirGrid (as CEO), he has led the development of a highly ambitious decarbonisation strategy for the power system, has transformed the organisation and culture, transformed customer relations, has transformed brand EirGrid in the eyes of stakeholders and has won the confidence of Government such that EirGrid was appointed as the statutory authority for the planning, operation and ownership of the future offshore transmission grid in Ireland. EirGrid has a turnover of >€1 billion and a capital programme of c. € 7 billion up to 2030.In Coillte (as MD of Land Solutions), he led the development of new businesses in Renewable Energy (on-shore wind), Telecommunications and land which resulted in disposals equating to € 600 million during his 10-year tenure (2008 to 2018).In the Dublin Airport Authority, he led the visioning and transformation of Dublin Airport in the noughties (2000-2008), which at €1.2 billion was the largest infrastructure programme in the history of the state and was the first to deploy international programme management expertise. He also led the €200 million redevelopment of Cork Airport. In a private sector career (over 18 years), Mark had an outstanding career with Loctite/Henkel in which he excelled at a technical level for a number of years before transitioning to management and was responsible for major transformation programmes in the manufacturing facilities in Ireland, including numerous technology transfer programmes across the globe. Mark was recently appointed to the rank of Chevalier in the Ordre National de la Légion D’Honneur by President Macron of the Republic of France.
