Mark Freedman is Principal and Chief Executive Officer of Rebel Global Security, which provides national security, geopolitical, and security risk management advisory services to critical infrastructure companies. Mark is a trusted advisor to his clients, providing insights and strategies to help executives achieve their desired outcomes in a challenging national security environment.Prior to founding Rebel, Mark was a strategy consultant with Deloitte Consulting and Associate Director for National Security at Xcelerate Solutions. In these roles, Mark advised the Department of Defense, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and U.S. Intelligence Community in the areas of national security policy, great power competition, threat management, and critical infrastructure continuity and resilience. For almost a decade, Mark served as a U.S. State Department officer, including as Chief of Staff to the Ambassador-at-Large for Counterterrorism. As Chief of Staff, Mark ran bureau front office operations for an organization of more than 150 people with more than $1 billion in foreign assistance funds under management; he also managed the flow of all briefing materials to the Secretary of State and other senior U.S. government officials. In previous assignments at State, Mark led interagency surge teams to tighten security cooperation with European allies in the wake of the 2015 ISIS attacks in Paris; developed strategic plans to contain weapons proliferation during the Arab Spring; and created a first-of-its-kind multilateral forum for security information sharing.Mark holds a M.A. in Security Studies from Georgetown University and a B.A. in International Affairs from The George Washington University. He is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), and a member of the ASIS Steering Committees on Enterprise Security Risk Management and Critical Infrastructure.
