My interest in entertainment was sparked while growing up in the middle of nowhere in the rural Midwest and watching a lot of TV as an escape from my small-town life. I especially loved comedies and people like Carol Burnett, Norman Lear and Lorne Michaels made me laugh and inspired me to dream of a career in Hollywood. My passion for comedy was central to realizing that dream and working in entertainment. During my career in television I have held senior executive positions at major studios (Paramount and Universal), and a broadcast network (FOX). I have run a studio-based production company (Kelsey Grammer’s Grammnet Productions), and have launched my own company with a producing partner. As a creative producer I have collaborated with independent production companies, studios, and networks in driving the development and production process involved in both scripted comedy and unscripted alternative content creation: identifying viable concepts by following pop culture and social trends; nurturing fresh voices and advocating for creators; cultivating relationships with creative and business partners; formulating a clear creative vision and building strong production teams to execute that vision; and strategizing new business opportunities and negotiating effective business plans and deals.Today the business of entertainment requires as much creative thinking as does creating content. With the rise of new streaming services and digital platforms demand for content has exploded and the traditional ways of doing business have changed. Audiences have splintered and the viability of niche programming has opened doors to new voices and different kinds of stories. So as the entertainment business evolves so too does my creative journey. Going forward, my industry experience can offer support to a new generation of content creators finding their voices and building their own brands. And hopefully humor and laughter can still be a part of all my creative endeavors.
