Program Head and founder of the Sustainable Business Leadership Program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. He also founded the Net Impact Chapter on Campus and continues to be the faculty mentor for that Chapter. Research by Giltrow covers a number of areas including, sustainability in the curriculum, creativity and innovation within organization, competencies leading to succession from middle and upper level management. Giltrow's current work on Sustainability in the curriculum was presented at the United Nations 2012 World Symposium on Sustainable Development at Universities (WSSD-U-2012) in Rio de Janeiro Brazil and the WSSD-U-2014 in Manchester England.

Program Head and Designer. Developed, marketed, and lead the Executive Cooperative Field School to Northern Italy. Canadian CEOs from the Canadian Cooperative Financial sector (Credit Unions) accompanied and learned about the Italian Credit Union System. Program included classroom lecture, field visits in industry and the development of a feasible project that could be brought back and implemented into the Canadian Credit union System.

With over 10,000 corporate participants and other stakeholders from over 130 countries, it is the largest voluntary corporate responsibility initiative in the world.Endorsed by chief executives, the Global Compact is a practical framework for the development, implementation, and disclosure of sustainability policies and practices, offering participants a wide spectrum of workstreams, management tools and resources — all designed to help advance sustainable business models and markets.

Mark is on the Board of Directors of the Sunshine Coast Credit Union. As a director Mark is involved in making strategic decisions regarding the course of action for the Credit Union by establishing objectives, formulating policy and approving goals and programs. Mark chairs the Donations Committee and is active in the integration of Community Social Responsibility in the organization's current and future practices.

LEAD was founded in 1991 as an initiative of the Rockefeller Foundation, one of the oldest and largest private charitable organizations in the world. The idea of LEAD grew out of discussions between the Rockefeller Foundation and Gro Harlem Bruntland following the publication of her Commission’s seminal report in 1987 (The Brundtland Commission). There was an identified need to develop and support a new generation of leaders who, equipped with a fresh combination of skills and perspectives, would be linked through their experience and careers in a global network focused on environmentally sound development. LEAD’s mission is to inspire leadership for a sustainable world. LEAD Canada strives to provide opportunities for LEAD Fellows and other change agents – from Canada and abroad – to deepen their knowledge about, strengthen their skills for and engage in action in sustainable development. LEAD Canada pursues this purpose within an existing international and cross-sectoral framework.

Make recommendations to the Planning and Development Committee on broad Sunshine Coast resource issues including: timber harvesting operations and forestry plans, environmental impact of resource activities on air, land, watersheds, lakes and the ocean or other impacts, economic significance of resource use decisions, and outdoor recreation natural resource issues.
