Director/ProducerMan Of Many Colors: An Artist'S Journey Jan 2020 - Oct 2020Santa Fe, New Mexico, United StatesAwakening in Taos has inspired me to produce my new film, Man of Many Colors. This time, I’m collaborating with Producer Jhane Myers, a Comanche and Black Feet American Indian. She is a Sundance Fellow who produced Words From A Bear about Pulitzer Prize winning Native American poet N. Scott Momaday for American Masters. Man of Many Colors is about a Tiwa Indian from Taos Pueblo named Blue Spruce Standing Deer. He is the adopted Great-Grandson of Tony Lujan, a legendary Taos Pueblo elder who married renowned writer, activist, and feminist Mabel Dodge Luhan in 1924. In 1965, Standing Deer, was displaced to Silicon Valley, California as part of the Bureau of Indian Affairs's Urban Relocation program. This program was designed to assimilate the participants and erase their Indian identities. So, at eighteen years-old, instead of becoming a medicine person like his father, Standing Deer was given vocational training to become a welder. Eighteen years later the spirit of his tribe called him to come home to Taos. When he finally returned, Standing Deer’s challenge was to reconcile his tribal/cultural traditions with life in the 21st century. He reinvented himself as an artist and singer of the traditional songs he learned from his great-grandfather.

It’s about the evolution of Women and Native American rights, and the origin of the Global Contemporary Art and Photography Market.Mabel Dodge Luhan, writer, activist, and feminist, was a powerful advocate of modernism who arrived in Taos, New Mexico in 1917. Her articles attracted New York modernist art critic, Henry McBride, who credits her with putting Taos on the map. Dodge Luhan was acknowledged for bringing Georgia O’Keefe and D.H. Lawrence to Taos. She also wrote Taos and Its Artists (1947), the first book on Taos artists.
