I founded Vita Sports Partners to Elevate Humanity through Sports, by establishing deeper, more meaningful, more sustainable, life changing impact for the youth and communities served by Sports Based Youth Development Organizations (SBYDOs). Vita Sports Partners operates an innovative venture philanthropy model which provides three services: i) a collaborative office space in midtown Manhattan (Vita SBYD Hub); ii) unrestricted grants & executive coaching to pre-selected SBYDOs; and iii) professional development workshops open to the SBYD sector.Sports Based Youth Development (SBYD) is a rapidly growing and increasingly validated model of youth development that uses the delivery of sport intentionally and primarily to achieve non-sports-based outcomes.However, SBYDO’s are struggling to: 1) retain key leaders with compelling professional growth pathways; 2) be responsive to an increase in community needs and/or demand for programs with static budgets; 3) manage limited resources, especially for operations and capacity. This made all the more challenging by traditional philanthropy viewing sports as a 'nice to have' alternative to 'real' social impact programs.Vita Sports Partners is changing the way sports are viewed in philanthropy and in doing so increasing and sustaining long-term impact to society through the youth and communities served by the SBYDOs.
