For over 20 years, I have focused my practice on complex commercial litigation and have extensive appellate and employment law experience. I also represent some of the world’s most successful fashion models in connection with their contract negotiations with major fashion houses, beauty, fragrance, and hair care companies. I have also successfully litigated cases on their behalf.In 2000, I won a landmark corporate director indemnification case before the New York Court of Appeals. The Court of Appeals unanimously adopted my argument that my corporate client did not have to pay for the punitive damages a federal jury had imposed against one of its directors. This decision has been named by the New York Law Journal as one of the 20th Century's 10 Most Influential Co-op Law Decisions.I also oversaw contemporaneous litigations commenced in New York, the Middle East, and California in the successful effort by my client, a national bank, to recover monies fraudulently diverted out of its customer’s account and wired to a Middle Eastern bank. I first obtained an order from a New York court restraining the foreign bank from releasing the funds and then worked closely with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Secret Service, and the DOJ to recover them. In the first such use of the Patriot Act, the U.S. Attorney commenced a federal court action to seize funds of the Middle Eastern bank’s customers to offset the monies that had been wired to that bank.
