I have over 35 years’ experience in accounting. Originally from South Africa, I immigrated to Australia in 1992 where I worked in both top-tier and mid-tier firms – one of which was later to become a founding firm of Moore Stephens Victoria (formerly Nexia Australia). A director since 1998, I work across both the business advisory and audit and assurance divisions with a special interest in the aged-care industry.An extensive client base throughout my career has afforded me in-depth experience. These include not-for-profit organisations, high-net-worth families and both medium to large family businesses that span a range of industries, including property development, manufacturing, distribution, retailing and hospitality. My unique understanding and insight into family business is supported by a demonstrated ability in managing family relationships as a result of generational change and succession issues. This includes the admission or separation of shareholders and/or partners.Big-picture focused, I am skilled in identifying new opportunities and connecting clients with relevant specialists or advisors. My clients benefit not only from my business acumen and technical skills but also my ability to draw on perspective and wisdom – factors that I consider critical in creating best-outcome solutions and results.Over the years my client dealings and subsequent involvement with an aged-care facility in an honorary capacity, have provided me with a special interest in the aged-care sector. As a result, I regularly participate in ongoing industry training and work closely with other partners to develop the firm’s skill base in the industry.
