These employees were involved in diverse operations such as: gas, electric, water and waste water utilities for the city of Colorado Springs. Worked closely with environmental, risk management, procurement, laboratories, human resources, emergency response and security. Accomplishments: Brought sorely needed leadership to a department that was fearful to act and an organization that distrusted the motives of the department due to toxic personnel. Implemented an enterprise-wide mobile device policy to address distracted driving as well as, at work usage. In the span of nine months achieved an all-time low TRIR of 1.48 and an LTIR of 0.96, (both declining). This was accomplished through the use of SIF strategies when migrating incident information from an Access database to Cority. Further, programs and administrative changes could result in an additional 25-50% decline. Implemented a company vision, “Are You Committed to Safety?” using the, “Three Second Rule,” as a key component, which includes STEP (Stop, Think, Ensure, and Perform). All employees have been trained and have embraced the program with positive results. Accomplished this by engaging senior management by building sustained relationships to establish trust and credibility. Quickly identified as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in DOT compliance, environmental, and risk management. Implemented innovative and relevant programs that engaged employees, first line supervisors and senior management. Also established accountability measures from employees to senior management. This was approximately 2/3 below industry benchmarks. Work closely with the Risk Manager for renewal strategies for all coverages to improve the renewal position based on the risk appetite. Successful negotiating with the carriers to save$800,000 on General Liability and Automobile and $250,000 on Worker’s Compensation insurance renewals. Our program was viewed by underwriters as World Class. Managed a DOT fleet of 1,500+ heavy vehicles maintaining FMCSA scores 35% below DOT performance thresholds. Also implemented strategies for non-DOT fleet operations significantly reducing frequency and severity. Successfully managed the HSE management system during detailed audit scrutiny which was deemed best in class by customers. -
