Heath joined the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation as the President and CEO in February 2006. Heath is no stranger to Southern Virginia. Heath led the Danville Development Council from 1984 to 1988, and the Roanoke Valley Economic Development Partnership from 1988 to 1992. Since joining the M-HC EDC in 2006, the organization has assisted with the announcement of more than 4,600 jobs and over $400 million in capital investment. In 2008 Heath was named as one of the “Top 10 People Who Made a Difference” by Southern Development & Development Magazine for his work in Martinsville-Henry County. As Director of the Lake Norman Regional Economic Development Corporation, he was involved in the formation of the agency and in orchestrating a public-private fund-raising campaign for economic development. He was also named “Man of the Year” by the Huntersville Herald for initiating the area’s first multi-jurisdictional marketing strategy and land development initiative. From 1992 to 2003, Heath was with the Charlotte Regional Partnership, where he is credited for organizing the partnership, originally comprised of 13 counties in North and South Carolina, and during his tenure expanded to 16 counties.
