As a healthcare advisor, I help providers, healthcare systems, and companies shift to financially viable value-based care - and invest in innovative solutions. I began my career in Ernst & Young’s healthcare consulting group. Later, as a financial executive at a start-up multi-hospital system, I learned about healthcare finance and operations from “the inside”. I’ve partnered with clients and leaders to launch: - a population health practice, including total cost of care and bundled payment models that grew from an idea to an over $14 million annual business. - an analytics shop for episodes of care providing value-added data that improved the patient experience while saving millions of dollars. - patient level revenue and bad debt analytics to determine margins and returns.Raised in a military family that moved regularly, I became quite good at embracing change and exploring new things. As an avid rock and mountain climber, I learned that just throwing yourself at something hard won’t get it done. You have to strategize, plan, develop your mind and body – and continually adjust, using the assets at your disposal to devise successful strategic and tactical plans. I believe in being a good team player, even if you’re the leader. It’s important to put team members in situations where they can contribute with confidence, push through challenges, and succeed. I am known for being open minded, but also willing to make the call. I know when to do analysis and how much, to avoid analysis paralysis and get the job done. My fearlessness and perseverance make me believe that our healthcare system CAN be a model for the world. As an independent consultant my goal is to exceed expectations.
