As their H&S Business Partner Logistics and reporting to the General Manager Logistics, I provide health and safety support to the Logistics division, covering about 800 FTE involved in port terminals, bulk and multi-cargo, warehousing and transportation for our sites at the Ports of Auckland, Tauranga, Mount Maunganui and Timaru. As their first EHS Manager in ANZ and reporting to the EHS Manager Asia Pacific, I have put together an EHS strategy, management system and supporting processes which meet the needs of the local business and ensure strong alignment with the expectations of ADM’s global EHS systems. As the Health and Safety Manager I was responsible for the development of a health and safety strategy for the site after the separation from Carter Holt Harvey. Later, it was to support alignment with the SIG Combibloc Global EHS Strategy. With prevention activities at the centre of this strategy I developed and deployed a health and safety management system aligned with the ISO45001 Standard. The Pedersen Group of Companies offers tailored wood processing solutions to OJI Tasman and Kinleith, CHH Wood Products at Kawerau and Tokoroa and Norske Skog Tasman. The company employs around 150 people engaged in administration, mobile and fixed wood processing plant operations, sawmilling and maintenance. As the Health & Safety Manager and reporting directly to the Managing Director, I had responsibility for managing the direction and operation of the health and safety programme and all associated systems for the Pedersen Group of Companies. Achievements· Development of a health and safety cultural change program· Undertake divisional and group health and safety planning · Establish a Group health and safety training matrix· Redesign of company safety meeting structures and representative roles & training· Developed and delivered new health and safety awareness training and workshops· Establish new electronic and hardcopy information resources for remote teams· Provide project support for a number of engineering projects and shut activities

Eastpack are a grower owned kiwifruit packing, cool-store and orchard operation employing 100 permanent and 1700 seasonal employees. Responsible for leading a team of 20 people delivering a professional human resource, support and administration service across all EastPack operations. Achievements• Established a close partnership with Immigration NZ, WINZ, OSH, EMA and other Industry organisations• Coordinate the ‘Lean manufacturing’ implementation program• Recruit, induct, place and roster over 1200 seasonal staff ready for the season start in March 2009• Delivered Team Leader development training and support system

As Project Manager I was responsible for managing all aspects of the payroll product design, installation and ensuring a sustainable payroll solution for Norske Skog Australasia. Achievements included the delivery of a new payroll for Norske Skog Australasia, automated links between the payroll / HRMS / general ledger and aligned business processes for the new NSA payroll, it’s links to HRMS, and payroll and labour reporting.

Overall responsibility for the implementation of Norske Skog’s global ICT strategy in New Zealand while reporting to the Australasia CIO.
