👋 I am a data science & analytics leader with interests in experimentation, product growth & driving commercial impact.💼 Applied expertise in areas such as: causal inference & experimentation; digital marketing; economics & econometrics; healthcare (e.g. genomics)🎓 Education: quantitative programmes in Health Data Science (Cambridge) and Economics (LSE)I have expertise in building the analytics capability at companies, including start-ups and consultancies, with a mind for driving product development and building robust software solutions. I am a Chartered Statistician (CStat) who has thorough experience with statistical modelling & machine learning in industry. I maintain two popular Python libraries and have been a public speaker at conferences such as PyData and PyCon.Currently I am building the Digital Analytics capability at Utility Warehouse (UW) ⚡📱🌐📜, which presents product growth initiatives like no other company for these reasons:- Unique business model: UW's customer growth is driven through network marketing and word-of-mouth marketing (through its Partner network and customer referral schemes). It spent over 20 years as a public company without any direct-to-consumer advertising and is now using digital data to drive its growth further and quantify the impact of growth channels with respect to metrics like CLTV and CPA.- Compelling USP: UW is the UK's only multi-service utility provider, enabling consumers to save money on their bills by bundling together utilities like energy, broadband & mobile. Each utility offered by UW has dozens of user journeys to analyse and through digital analytics we can personalise the customer experience (CX) & identify opportunities to cross-sell services to customers. My experience with technologies includes:- 📜 Languages: Python, SQL, R- ☁ Cloud infrastructure and data architecture: Google Cloud, AWS, Snowplow, Hightouch- 📊 Analytics: Looker, Tableau, Mixpanel- ⛓ ETL to build data in various formats, e.g. Apache Parquet- ⛓ Version control: e.g. Git, Dataform, dbt- 🖥 Data science development on all three main OS: Linux, Windows & MacI have a background in quantitative economics, consulting & data analytics. I tackle projects from multiple perspectives, enabled by the breadth of my experience: I've worked on projects for the public, private & third sectors; experience of traditional education & alternative education; experience of full-time employment & contracting.CONNECT with me if you share similar interests.

Data ScientistTriptease Jul 2019 - Mar 2020London, England, Gb⚗ Specialist in A/B testing, stats modelling and causal inference. I've worked across a few squads to help develop data-driven product features. I developed a new product at the time in 2019 to improve hoteliers' returns from their online ad presence through machine learning.🏨 We're using all of our data science know-how to develop exciting products for hoteliers!💸 Find out more about how we're giving our hoteliers an 'unfair advantage' through our newest data product at https://triptease.com/en/guest-acquisition/🚀 Other work at Triptease:► Working within a committee to organise Triptease's first public Product & Engineering event, via the London Travel Tech meetup.► Acting as a sponsor to support an engineer's career development.🌟 Key achievements to date:★ Delivered a talk at PyData London 2019 on the applications of causal inference to the hotel industry.★ Authored a white paper on the largest ever A/B test of on-site messaging on hotel websites.★ Built tools in conjunction with engineers and analysts to assist the management of advertising spend for hotels.★ Outside of work, in 2019 I released my first open-source package on PyPI: appelpy (applied econometrics library for Python). -
Associate Data ScientistTriptease Nov 2018 - Jun 2019London, England, Gb🏨 We're using all of our data science know-how to develop exciting products for hoteliers!💸 Find out more about how we're giving our hoteliers an 'unfair advantage' through our newest data product at https://triptease.com/en/guest-acquisition/ -
Data AnalystTriptease Jan 2018 - Nov 2018London, England, Gb🚀 Summary of key responsibilities:► Hypothesis testing on Triptease products, in particular through A/B tests on Strategic Accounts, but also through deep dive analysis and other statistical testing. Reporting on test results to hotel clients and internal audiences. ► Ongoing development of Triptease's business intelligence tool (Looker), to support various users across the company (e.g. Customer Success, product squads).🌟 Key achievements to date:★ Entered an incipient data team and developed cross-team relationships on analytics projects, with people across the company including: product managers, CS managers, CS technical leads, embedded analysts, product developers, data engineers and senior management. These cross-team partnerships have improved A/B testing processes and hypothesis testing for product analytics.★ Contributed to halving the cost of our daily BigQuery bill in March by deploying changes that encouraged caching of queries and reduction of bugs, in collaboration with data engineers.★ Enhanced the A/B testing dashboards so that key test metrics are easier to monitor, e.g. 'running' significance levels for conversion rate uplift over a time series, traffic splitting, statistical power.★ Led the development of product analytics at new levels of segmentation: e.g. business vs leisure segments based on booking behaviour.🕵 Data stack:• Looker and Google BigQuery [for business intelligence]: advanced LookML developer and administrator; experienced SQL user; deployment of changes to our BI platform through Github.• Python and R, via Jupyter notebooks [for data cleaning, exploratory analysis, deep dive analysis and advanced statistical modelling]Other tools:• Zapier and Slack integration to automate tasks. -
