Environmental Protection Specialist - Senior Grants Project Officer
Current• Lead and train team of 10 grants project officers for the Environmental Justice Community Change Grants (CCG) Cooperative Agreement Program to fund projects for community-driven climate investments, pollution reduction strategies, and engagement to promote civic equity in disadvantaged target areas, ranging from $1-$20 million.• Develop programmatic standard operating procedures; facilitate weekly group coaching and troubleshooting sessions on CCG statutory and regulatory authority under the Clean Air Act Section 138, Code of Federal Regulations, agency policies, and work plan and budget negotiations; update section management and EPA Headquarters Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights on overall progress; and prepare briefing materials for CCG media events.• Lead project officer on two $20 million CCGs with non-profit organizations, $1 million Environmental Justice Government-to-Government Program grant, and $1.5 million Navajo Nation Performance Partnership grant; provide technical and programmatic assistance internally and to external community partners; spearhead effort to complete funding commitment notices for six total Collaborative Problem-Solving Program and Government-to-Government Program grants; and advise team members and provide solution-oriented guidance on general grants issues.• Engage with communities in Indian Country including Navajo Nation, advise team members on Tribal engagement, and respond to formal environmental justice requests from Tribal representatives, and attend quarterly Regional Tribal Operations Committee meetings; and engage with communities in the Greater Los Angeles Area and the Pacific Islands.• Represent the Environmental Justice, Community Engagement, and Environmental Review Division at monthly Regional Environmental Justice Organizational Implementation Council meetings.• Mediate difficult conversations and discussions for internal divisions and entities as member of Regional Facilitators Cadre.
