I started with Promula in 1985 when personal computing was just beginning the explosive evolution that continues today. While at Promula, I was able to work with all types of systems: UNIX, VMS, MAC, Main Frame, and PC; and to do all types of work: systems programming, application programming, marketing, systems administration, technical writing, and teaching. After 6 years with Promula, I joined Compuware. Over the next 8 years, I climbed the ranks from developer to technology manager and was sought after as a project architect and technical trainer. While at Compuware I was exposed to many great clients, projects, people, and processes.In 2000, I took my first true management role to lead the newly formed System Architecture team at BMWFS. We delivered outstanding value: designing and implementing a world-class software configuration management process complete with automated DevOps. We built a suite of well-integrated frameworks for middleware, desktop apps, web apps, and batch processing. Starting in 2004, we took ownership of application security and began driving it forward every year. Our contributions helped boost IT productivity 300%.After spearheading a bold approach to migrate our massive application portfolio from VB6 to C#, I was inspired to form Great Migrations. We are building on a tremendous legacy of Promula's software language translation technology.
