Director Of Business Development - Convenience Stores (C-Stores)
This was a newly created position at Smithfield that I initiated and developed the C-Store channel Go to Market Strategy across both Foodservice and Retail portfolios. I managed and led the C-Store Team with annual sales of $90MM. • For the +4 years in this role, I consistently increased profitable sales year over year (pre COVID).• I led and coached Smithfield’s C-Store team in building relationships with our top 50 Retailer and top 5 Distributor customers, who contributed 80% of our total C-Store volume.• In 2020, I Initiated and developed a partner relationship with a National C-Store Broker to represent Smithfield in Channel. This was the first National C-Store Broker for Smithfield. Managed broker’s sales of $12.5MM and delivered $250k of incremental business in the first year of our partnership.• Working with our Finance and Trade teams, I designed and implemented a new C-Store Trade Program to provide funding support for Retailer and Distributor customers, integrating tiered incentives to expand breadth of purchases of Smithfield's total portfolio.• I worked with the Foodservice Marketing Team to develop Sales tools and training materials to help educate and support Sales' efforts. Collaborated with Marketing team and 3rd party agencies to develop Communication Strategy in effort to familiarize the channel with Smithfield’s portfolio and capabilities.• I was the C-Store industry liaison for Smithfield, managing relations with various organizations: National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS), American Petroleum & Conv. Store Assoc. (APCA), Winsight Media Industry Events, National Pork Board and WAM (C-Store Buying Group).• I had effectively worked with other internal functional groups: Business/Category Management, Marketing, Finance, Operations (Demand/Supply Teams, Transportation, etc.) R&D, Quality Assurance and Innovation Teams to best support customer and sales team’s needs.

In this role, I managed and led strategic development for key C-Store customers to include: 7-Eleven, Speedway, Wawa, Sheetz, GPM and Pilot Travel Centers with over 15,000 stores, generating total Kraft revenue for both Retail and Foodservice sales in excess of $92.6MM annually.• I consistently increased total sales year over year for all accounts, achieving 7.8% growth in my final year in this position.• I April 2015, Pilot Flying J was added to my responsibility in effort to turn around their roller grill program. Utilizing my Foodservice expertise I successfully executed a conversion program to include transition of new products, equipment, POS, training, and operational guides. I conducted several training meetings for their national rollout to 580 locations. First year results were +26% vs YAG sales.• In this role, I successfully managed customer contracts and Trade Budget of $5.5MM, utilizing zero-base budgeting principles to insure spending was consistently within budget.• The portfolio of brands I represented included: Kraft, Oscar Mayer, Planters, Maxwell House, General Foods International Coffees, Crystal Light, Jello-O & A-1, to name a few. • I worked with functional groups at each account, to create and execute promotional programs. In 2014, executed a combined 54 promotions resulting in incremental sales for retailers and profitable revenue for Kraft. I created a promotional analysis tool to measure the promotions' effectiveness.• In addition, I managed the Broker partner (Crossmark) with each National Account providing strategic direction and guidance to focus on our key category initiatives.
Foodservice Development Mgr.
In this newly created position at Kraft, I led the strategic planning of Foodservice (FS) business for the Kraft C-Store team. I managed and developed strategies and was the key liaison for the Channel Marketing team on both FS and Retail portfolios.• I was responsible for managing the $136MM of Kraft Foodservice business for C-Store team. In the final two years in this role, we grew total revenue vs prior year by 17% in 2012 and 9.5% in 2011. • In this role, I created, developed and managed our $12MM FS Trade Program for both Distributors and Retailers. Delivered under budget trade expenses each year while growing top line revenue.• I had the opportunity to work with the Growth Channel and Foodservice Marketing teams to develop customized programs to meet the needs of our Retailer customers. Worked with 3rd party agency to create POS needs.• For our broker and Kraft Sales teams, I created and implemented Foodservice training workshops and selling tools to improve their selling skills on foodservice products and programs sold in growth channels.
Director Of Foodservice - Convenience Stores
This was another newly created role at Kraft designed to coordinate efforts to grow the Foodservice business within the C-Store channel, working with a predominantly retail focused Sales organization. My responsibilities included training, product & program development in effort to support the retail sales team in selling the foodservice portfolio with the channel.

From my Foodservice Planning roles, I then moved over to our Alternative Channels Team, which included, Drug, Dollar, and Convenience Stores. In this role, my responsibilities were to help develop foodservice business within these Retail formats, working with our Retail Sales organization. Much of my time was spent training, prospecting and developing sales tools on the FS portfolio that best fit these small format outlets.
Corporate Category Planning Mgr - Kraft Brands
Newly created role located in Kraft's HQ offices in the Chicago area. In this Corp. Planning function, I was responsible for assimilating the $360MM Kraft branded portfolio (mayo, dressings, dairy, etc) that was purchased from Alliant Foodservice (distributor). This involved working closely with our Marketing and Product Mgmt teams to create brand positioning and go to market strategies. Included in my responsibilities were setting & analyzing Sales goals and budgets for our Foodservice Sales organization.

New Sales position created, located in Atlanta, GA. In this Area Planning role, I was responsible for supporting the six FS Sales Regions in our Eastern Area, to include the NE and SE areas of the country. In addition, I created two Sales contest per year with trip incentives awarded to top performing Regions.
