• Designed and developed solutions for a tightly integrated suite of COBOL/CICS systems that supported ordering, billing, and trouble management functions. These applications supported a Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) resale business. • Maintained positive relationships with business partners so that I could anticipate and better understand their needs. Gathered, evaluated, and documented business requirements. Ensured that root causes of problems were identified and resolved so that problems did not reoccur.• Pulled in by management to help solve problems spanning multiple systems other than my own; helped facilitate new interface between quoting tool and tax engine to provide estimated taxes on quotes, worked on Product ID and pricing synchronization issues between quoting, provisioning, and ordering systems, designed solution spanning four different systems that improved accuracy of software product taxation. • Implemented extensive changes to replace third-party taxing engine with internal corporate tax engine. Produced $300K savings per year, improved accuracy of tax calculations, and reduced occurrences of invalid zip codes by 99%.• Delivered, as part of corporate effort to drive down long term operational costs, significant platform changes that replaced tightly integrated provisioning interfaces, account receivable interfaces, and other financial system interfaces with new interfaces to consolidated SAP platform.• Designed and developed interfaces between legacy COBOL/CICS ordering system and new Siebel quoting tool providing standardized platform for pricing and quoting of approximately 400K CPE products and services to nearly 3,500 users from multiple lines of business. This integrated platform automated several manual processes and replaced batch processing with real-time updates. Full order upload interface allowed quotes to flow to order with single touch.

• Worked as a lead architect on post-merger migration project that consolidated applications from multiple GTE and Bell Atlantic business units onto a single platform pieced together from the legacy platforms. Involved complicated data conversions and migrations, creating a complete set of end-to-end business processes, and curating often conflicting business requirements into a set agreeable to all parties.

• Led an application rewrite effort with no prior experience with: system being rewritten (quoting / configuration tool); language system was written in (Clipper); or language system was being migrated to (Visual Basic). Learned two programming languages, learned full functionality of undocumented legacy system, and developed functional prototype in little over three months.
