Although my tenure with our legal department hasn’t been long relative to my prior experiences, on the data privacy side, I’m most proud of my ability to jump into the middle, develop, negotiate and implement a GDPR-based agreement for use with suppliers and customers in response to an evolving global landscape. Data Privacy is an emerging field, and I took my prior knowledge forward, while also adapting and evolving to what this position requires, leading to establishing legal authority to transfer critical information from EU to US business models. I've also led the team in developing and implementing contract lifecycle management tools which have increased team efficiency and enabled multiple merger and acquisition projects.The second aspect to my position involved my being requested to rejoin the company in the legal department, who wanted the benefit of my experience and knowledge and saw an application for my skills in supplier relationship management, vendor management, and contract negotiation. While also pursuing the above responsibilities with corporate projects, I also operated as the prime contract negotiator for our supplier based, and more recently for a mix of customers including small U.S. telecommunications carriers, non-carrier enterprises, and global reseller and distributor partners, including for the U.S. Federal space.All this serves to expand my knowledge base further than supply chain, adding in data privacy and customer-facing roles where I can focus on creating lasting, mutually-beneficial partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

This role allowed further expansion of my responsibilities, in order to effectively drive on-time delivery for product portfolios – while also decreasing inventory investment and costs. With my comprehensive understanding of business models and vendor management, I expanded beyond the typical reports to include detailed supplier audits. Information derived from supplier audits and other vendor management engagements could then be addressed proactively, leading to early identifications of potential issues and addressing financial distress before it became a crisis. Streamlining and developing new processes and protocols that I design consistently increases profit margins and lowers costs for both my company and for our clients and suppliers.

Nortel merged with GENBAND, and my experience with the prior company created a solid foundation to continue growing and expanding in portfolio management, quality and delivery performance, and strategy and negotiations especially when dealing with mergers. Knowing that successful corporate restructuring should not adversely impact clients or suppliers, I worked with the objective of enabling uninterrupted service, while also focusing on discipline and cost reduction. For increased efficiency, I implemented on-boarding processes and procedures which streamlined and automated new supplier selections. This also resulted in delivering significant savings business-wide.

Due to my success in previous roles, I was recruited for this project which related to securing supply from key technology partners during a major bankruptcy restructuring period. My efforts at developing strategic selection processes allowed the company to target high-caliber suppliers. In addition, throughout the process, I worked with the goal of stabilizing the supply chain and managing vendor relationships, to bring order during a chaotic time. As a result of my complex global supply chain negotiations, my team led the transition of separating into multiple individual business units which were then ready to be placed for sale.

Building on my past roles and experience with the company, I successfully transitioned to this role which allowed the opportunity to add new responsibilities, which included budget and team management. I led my team through the development process, first defining then prioritizing and implementing processes targeted at numerous industry manufacturer partners. Part of my responsibilities lay with cultivating executive-level relationships with key suppliers. This included conducting quarterly business reviews, analyzing key metrics on areas such as cost, delivery, and quality to improve performance.To simplify and increase supply chain flexibility – while also reducing New Product Introduction (NPI) on cost and time measurements – I introduced a new product platform strategy. Doing so aligned all sub-organizations onto one common set of approved platform technologies, leading to a higher level of operational efficiency.
